- עָרַג(b. h.; onomatop.) to groan (of the deer), pant. Midr. Till. to Ps. 42 מה האילת … ועוֹרֶגֶת להקב״הוכ׳ as the hind when travailing feels pain and cries to the Lord, and he answers her ; ib. כשם שהאילת עורגתוכ׳ (Yalk. ib. 741 צווחת).
